We are going to the Dominican Republic in July. I'm interested in wedding ceremonies there, and also what we need to not get caught up in there. I wonder how the ceremony takes place according to their laws (we do not want an official wedding there).

Wedding ceremonies take place either on the beach or in the beautifully decorated gazebo in the hotel garden, with music (live music, usually for an additional fee).
If you do not have witnesses, it's okay, the hotel will provide them. But wedding dresses are better to take with them, you can not take them for rent. In addition, champagne, a wedding cake, a romantic dinner and many other pleasant surprises are provided. But, of course, the full list of services will depend on the hotel you choose.
The wedding ceremony (unofficial) is booked in advance, at least a month before the desired date. Paid on site directly at the hotel. It's mandatory to have a marriage certificate with you.
