Italy is rich in sun, sky, sweet singers, passionate beauties, the sea, magnificent beaches, vineyards, designers ... But this country has another fabulous treasure, this is the Dolomites Alps .Encyclopedias dryly report that it is a mountain massif in the northeastern part of the country, that its length is 120 km, and the highest peak is Mount Marmolada, 3342 m .In addition, encyclopedias talk about glaciers, mountain meadows, pine forests and that this area of Italy is popular in terms of tourism .In reality, everything seems to be, so it is .But any person who has visited the Dolomites will tell about them in completely different words and with other intonations .

A bit of history
Many millions of years ago, the waves of a warm tender sea splashed in the place of these mountains, Africa was gradually approaching Europe, the sea became shallower, and then the water left it completely, but left traces of coral reefs, fjords and lagoons - surprisingly beautiful and diverse terrain relief. This is the Dolomites, the mountain range, which is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The history of this region, which in the world of alpine skiers is called Dolomiti SuperSki, is as follows: $ .In the ski resort, which offered a single ski pass for different skiing areas, entered Cortina d'Ampezzo, Kronplatz, Val Gardena / Alpe di Suzi, Alta Badia, Arabba and Val di Fassa / Karezza .It was in 1974 .When in 1979 the city of Bressanone and several resort towns of Valle Isarco joined the Dolomiti Superski alliance, the length of the marked descents exceeded 1000 km .The region of Tre-Vali (San Pellegrino-Falcade) entered the alliance in 1984, and the last, the twelfth, member of Dolomiti Superski in 1994 was the Civetta ski area .
Major resorts
Here you can, without taking off skis, ride on the roads of Val di Fassa, Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Sappada and Arabba, the four most famous local resorts that refer to the "circumnavigation" of Sella Ronda. Or glance at the legendary "Zyudtirol-Arena" in Anterselva, where for many years the stages of the biathlon World Cup have been held. Finally, go to one of the oldest ski resorts in Europe - Monte Bondone, where the first lift appeared in 1934.
The number of resorts in this region can only be counted on conditionally, there are about 50 of them. There are ski centers with a rich history and their own traditions, there are just small ski stations where people from the surrounding towns come to go. There are resorts with indisputable sports reputation, where prestigious international competitions take place, and there are small villages, the semantic center of which is a school for beginners, children and adults.
Ski Pass
A single subscription of the Dolomiti super-ski (Dolomiti super-ski) provides the opportunity to use 496 lifts in 12 ski resorts. In the total amount - 1200 km of trails!
Trails
For many years the Dolomites have been chosen by skiers: for them it is just an ideal region in which to try their hand at increasing skill or to put on a new personal - and maybe even global! - a record can anyone who is not too lazy to acquire ski equipment, buy a plane ticket, book a hotel and transfer.
And the joys here for skiers, and for all fans of winter recreation - a lot! First of all, the Dolomites are the world's largest ski area: there are 12 ski regions together, united by one common ski pass .And what does it say? And it says that 12 resort zones, regardless of whether they are in three different administrative regions of Italy, are ready to provide the alpine skiing all their routes (a total of 1220 km), lifts (and there are more than 470, and they can each hour to raise to the tops of the mountains about 620,000 people), ski buses that run between the resorts and, very importantly, an organized transfer from major nearby airports, the cost of which will cost about 20 EUR for one person..
Entertainment, excursions and attractions of the Dolomites Alps
Call the most interesting or most beautiful area impossible, the great French architect Le Corbusier called the Dolomites "the greatest natural architecture in the world" .Each of the regions is interesting in its own way and has its followers, but all resorts are ready to provide skiers with a full range of services, well-developed infrastructure and a rich excursion program .Not forgotten in the area, nor snowboarders, nor skaters, nor paragliders .Here for all there is a corner in which you can do your favorite sport .And you can not do it ...
You can just lazily spend time in spa salons, indoor swimming pools, restaurants and bars, which will also later generate pleasant memories. You can walk along the mountain paths, admire the age-old pine forests, frozen waterfalls, pristine dazzling white snowdrifts. And for those who have spared no effort and time and climbed to the top of Mount Marmolada, nature prepared a gift: a stunning view of the nearby rocks and peaks, some of which are covered with never melting snow.
