Amman is very different from its "metropolitan" Middle Eastern neighbors - Cairo or Damascus. This is not a great cultural center, numbering thousands of years, where every stone breathes history. This is a modern Arab city that can become an excellent "gulp" of fresh air after the musty old Syria or Egypt, and may turn out to be a complete disappointment for tourists who do not want to see the expansion of European globalization to the ancient, mighty and mysterious East.
@ soul "of Amman without visiting its two parts is impossible . The first one is Eastern Amman, a conservative, Muslim one, where poor people hang around the narrow streets, and camps of Palestinian refugees are divided on the outskirts . Full contrast - З Amman, with its comfortable neighborhoods, trendy cafes and bars, impressive collections of art galleries, including contemporary art . In short, if you want to visit the capital of Jordan to walk through medieval bazaars or enjoy the grandiose heritage of Islam, then worth . Come to Amman to immerse yourself in the everyday life of a vibrant, modern, contrasting city that invariably meets its guests with warmth and oriental hospitality .

Transportation
Local buses are inconvenient, timetables and names of stops are not translated into English. However, on buses 26, 27, 28, 41 and 43 you can get to the downtown. Although many say that for the use of Amman buses still need to know Arabic. Tickets cost about 50 fils. To get to the 7th circle, where the office and station of the bus company Trust is located, you will need a bus number 41 or any other that goes to Wadi as-Seer.
From all the above, one logical conclusion follows: it is better to use a taxi. Most taxi drivers have counters, but sometimes they should be reminded of this. The fare is low, from downtown to Abdali bus station about 600 fils, to Shmeisani it is not necessary to pay more JD1. The official taxi also charges 130 fils for landing, after 8 pm the price rises by 25%. In the peak hour, traffic jams are possible (from 8 am to 9 am and from 5 to 6 pm).
Those who travel on a rented car will need the following information: parking costs 150/250 fils for 30 minutes / hour, in parking equipment that stand on the streets.
Cuisine
Amman can boast of a wide variety of restaurants, from national cuisine of the middle east to European, fast food and network cafes. Prices vary widely, the most affordable food is Arabic, it can be found everywhere.
Arabic food is divided into several groups. Meat dishes contain lamb and chicken; less often beef and never pork. Shaurma (shawarma) is prepared from lamb meat and wrapped in a flat cake - a very popular snack here. The best shawarma can be found in the alley, in the Shawermat Reem tent, on the 2nd Circle. This is a very popular place, and here it is very cheap. Rice and bread cakes are a typical side dish. Specialized Jordanian dish - mansaf from lamb and rice, it is eaten by hands. Also popular are the dishes based on peas, such as falafel, hummus, and fuul.
One of the most famous places in Amman is Hashem restaurant, located in the city center. Here you can eat no more than 1.500 JD, which is very cheap compared to other restaurants. At the same time, this institution is one of the favorite places of the royal family. Nearby is Habeebah, where you can taste oriental sweets baklava, national traditional dessert knafeh nabelseyyeh.
Shopping: shops
"Golden Bazaar" (Souk), located in the city center, is famous for its magnificent handmade products from gold and silver. The prices here are moderate, but you can always bargain. In addition, the city has many excellent shops with products made by local artisans: carpets and pillows, ceramics, inlays and embroidery. Do not be surprised if the owner of the store offers a cup of coffee: such a friendly gesture is quite traditional for Jordanians.
Amman also boasts modern shopping centers: Abdun-Mall, Amman Mall, Mecca-Mall and Zara "
