The characteristics of diving on Mindoro - the most impressive: water temperature +22 .. + 29 ° C, visibility of 15-30 m and more than 50 worthy points for immersion. Most of the dive sites in Puerto Galera are reachable only from the boat (not more than an hour on the road), but two or three interesting places can be found directly on the coast.
Puerto Galera
A small stretch of coast is concentrated around forty different dive sites. The possibilities for diving are for beginners as well as for experienced athletes and techno-diving enthusiasts. The rich underwater world of the coastal strip does not leave anyone indifferent, and the presence of strong undercurrents allows you to get new vivid impressions. The news of a Chinese ship sinking near the shore with a load of porcelain is of particular interest to these places. The nearest dive site to this site is called "Manila passage."
"Shark caves" (because of strong undercurrents is dangerous for beginners). Its average depth is 18 meters, drift diving, night diving and underwater photography are very popular.
"Canyons", the most visited place in the area of Puerto Galera, are covered with all sorts of soft and hard corals and galls. Here you can always see moray eels, lionfish, tuna, white-tailed sharks.
At the cape Sabang - beautiful walls with moray eels and luminous blue triggers, lots of corals and sponges.
"Pink Wall" - excellent and a place for underwater photography and night dives, available even for beginners.
Batangas Canal - a lot of unusual coral formations and sponges, you can meet such rare species of fish as blue-ribbon eel and fish-stone. And not far from the heavy corals is a large flooded ship.
You can get to some dive sites only by boat, but many of them are accessible from the shore. Almost all hotels in this region offer rental of necessary equipment, and the whole of the tourist industry is built on the maintenance of diving. In fact, Puerto Galera is the Philippine capital of diving.
Reef Apo
Reef Apo, located west of Mindoro, is an underwater lagoon. The best time to visit is from December to May. The best places to dive are: vertical walls near the northern coast of the lagoon (covered with gorgonians and fan corals, manta rays and hammerheads are found; in the northern part of the lagoon, the remains of the old steamship lie), Shark Ridge (a place in the eastern part of the lagoon, and black-shark sharks and mantles). The easiest way to get there is from San Jose, Western Mindoro.

Binangan dump in the southwestern part of the lagoon (gorgonian, soft and hard corals, large flocks of tuna, groupers, lobsters and shellfish) and Hunter Rock. The latter is a sunken island at 21 km from the Apo reef, it is not easy to find it, so a good guide will be needed. This place is known for its hundreds of sea snakes, which begin the mating season from June to July, and their number grows to several thousand - the surface of the water at this time is a moving snake carpet.
